Newport offers low cost photodiode-based fiber optic detectors and high performance sphere-based fiber optic detectors. Choose the best product for your application and budget.

Features

High Performance Sphere-Based Detectors

Model 918D-IS-1 Universal Fiber Optic Sensors use a 1 symmetrical integrating sphere to ensure the most accurate calibration possible, regardless of the fiber type measured. The integrating sphere uses a dual detector design, with special optics that improve temperature sensitivity markedly from ordinary detectors, with the wavelength range of 400–1650 nm. The918D-IS-IG uses an InGaAS detector (800-1650 nm) while the 918D-IS-SL uses a Si detector (400-1100nm). An FC, ST, LC, and SC fiber adapters included, and plug into the detector’s front port. The rear port is designed to measure light from straight and angle cleaved bare fibers, using Newport’s FP3-FH1 bare fiber holder, which is also included. The complete kit is packaged in a rugged carrying case.

Variety of Fiber Adapters Included

Tightest Calibration Uncertainty

Newport\'s wand detectors include a full spectral response calibration utilizing NIST-traceable standards calibrated with high-precision equipment maintained in Newport’s optical detector calibration facility. Tight calibration facility and process control allows the tightest calibration uncertainty in industry. Each detector is shipped with the calibration data, which is electronically stored inside the detector\'s EEPROM. A certificate of calibration as well as the actual calibration curves and data with and without the attenuator are shipped with each product. To maintain accuracy and guarantee performance Newport recommends annual photodiode detector calibration.
