Newport’s Fabry-Perot (FP) Laser Diodes are available at various wavelengths from UV, blue to 1550 nm with high optical power levels. The LPM Series laser diode modules are an economical choice and include the diode and collimating optics in a single case. The LQC Series includes self-contained laser diode with superior optical quality, a very high precision current source and a PID temperature controller, built in the module. The LQC series laser modules are ideal for demanding experimental setups where the temperature and the current control are important.

All the diode lasers are available either in elliptical (the E versions) or circular beam output (the C version). The wavelengths indicated are typical values only, due to the nature of FP lasers.

LPMS Series Power Supplies must be used for these laser diodes to meet CDRH requirements by providing an interlock input, key enable switch, delayed start-up, and laser active indicator. Warranty is not applicable when a custom power supply is used to drive the module. The laser modules in the wavelength range of 375-473 nm require an 8/12 VDC power source. The lasers emitting in the range of 635-1550 nm wavelength require a 5 VDC power source. These units are shown in the ordering table below and must be ordered separately. Also available are the lasers with analog and digital modulation capabilities (Laser Diode Modules, Modulation).

LPMS Must Be Used with Laser Diode Modules

Newport\'s LPMS Series Power Supplies are not just power supplies. This is a key instrument that will make the LPM and LQC laser diode modules CDRH compliant. It provides an interlock input, key enable switch, delayed start-up, and laser active indicator. The laser modules in the wavelength range of 375-473 nm require an 8/12 VDC power source. Those in the range of 635-2330 nm require a 5 VDC power source. Warranty is not applicable when a custom power supply is used to drive the module.

Wide Variety of Laser Modules

The laser diodes are available at various wavelengths and output power levels, with the choice of either Elliptical (E versions) or Circular (C versions) output beam shape. Circular beams are generated using a micro lens built in the diode laser and exhibit better quality than elliptical versions. Newport strives to offer high performance laser diodes with a variety of different output wavelengths and a high output power and beam quality to provide the maximum flexibility in your research.

For those who want laser diode modules with a simple, cost effective fixed output power the LPM series Laser Diode Modules are suitable. The LQC series lasers are ideal for demanding experimental setups where the temperature and the current control are important.
