1 diameter fits mirror mounts and filter wheels
Broad wavelength range—0.4 to 2 µm
Available in convenient kits
The neutral-density (ND) filters in our kits contain the same filters that we use in our ND-filter wheels.
Made with Inconel® metallic coatings on glass substrates, these ND filters provide spectrally uniform attenuation over the wavelength range from 0.4 to 2.0 µm. The reflective nature of the coatings helps reduce thermal effects when these filters are used with moderate-power lasers. (Please note the “Damage Threshold,” listed below.)
Mix and match these filters to fit your experiment. Keep in mind that the optical density (OD) is related to transmission (T) through
OD=–log (T)
or T=10–OD
and that the OD of a set of filters is additive. For example, to get an OD of 3.0, you can use two filters, one with an OD of 2.5 and the other with an OD of 0.5.
The Model 5247 filter kit provides a large range of attenuation with six filters having optical densities of ~0 to 2.5 in steps of 0.5. The Model 5248 kit allows finer control of your laser power, with six filters of optical density ~0 to 0.5 in steps of 0.1. The Model 5249 kit includes all ten different filters.
