Newport offers a wide variety of beamsplitter plates which cover the entire UV(250 - 450 nm) to IR(2 µm - 14 µm) regions in both round and square shapes in multiple sizes. In order to meet your specific needs, our plate beamsplitter product line includes four different substrates; grade A N-BK7, UV grade fused silica, Calcium Fluoride, and Zinc Selenide.
When operating in the UV region, UV grade fused silica is the preferred choice of substrate due to its high transmissivity and low absorption of UV light. The UV beamsplitters are available in 50/50 and 30/70 reflectance/transmittance ratios.
CaF2 and ZnSe beamsplitters are available for applications in the IR region. In general, CaF2has a transmission above 90% between 0.25 µm and 7 µm, making it a great choice for deep UV to infrared applications. In addition, with its low absorption and high damage threshold, CaF2 is commonly used for excimer laser applications. ZnSe is the one of the preferred substrates for IR applications in the 7 µm to 14 µm range. Due to its low absorption and low thermal expansion properties, ZnSe can also be used with the output of a CO2 laser.
Unlike broadband dielectric beamsplitters, which are extremely polarization sensitive, Newport\'s laser-line non-polarizing beamsplitters are insensitive to the polarization of an incoming beam. The polarization components are matched to within 5%. Near zero absorption from these dielectric beamsplitters result in a true 50/50 split and high damage threshold regardless of the incoming polarization. Our laser-line non-polarizing beamsplitters exhibit exceptional performance in higher power applications where cemented cube beamsplitters fail. They are manufactured from a high-precision N-BK7 substrate to minimize wavefront distortion. We have added a slight wedge to help eliminate back reflections to the laser. The front surface is coated with a multilayer all-dielectric non-polarizing beamsplitter coating optimized for a specific laser line. The back surface is coated with a multilayer dielectric antireflection coating to minimize surface reflection losses and eliminate ghost images. Non-polarizing beamsplitters are available for eleven common laser wavelengths. Newport’s laser-line non-polarizing beamsplitters are offered in a 25.4 mm diameter size to conveniently fit in our see Aperture-Thru Kinematic Gimbal Mirror Mount series, see Precision Stainless Steel Mirror Mounts series, and see Basic Research Mirror Mounts series mounts.
