The economical F-COL Series Pigtail Fiber Collimators consist of a multimode or single-mode fiber pigtail precisely aligned to a Gradient Index (GRIN) lens assembly, which is ideal for collimated light applications. Standard products come with either un-terminated or an FC connector.
Each fiber is contained in a glass ferrule, angle polished and AR coated to assure low back-reflection into the fiber pigtail. A protective metal housing sleeve and strain relief boot provide excellent environmental protection to the final assembly.
Applications for a single fiber collimator include laser beam delivery systems, as well as coupling the output of a fiber into a detector. Applications of pairs of collimators include beam expansion systems for lab applications, as well as fiber-to-fiber coupling in compact components. Newport also offers fiber collimators with connector receptacles (see Fiber Optic Collimators).
