FP Series Fiber Optic Positioners provide three or five degrees of precision positioning for bare, connectorized, or polarization-preserving fibers. We’ve improved these mounts by adding high-resolution 100 TPI adjustment screws and including new larger diameter knobs with an integral hex hole for smooth adjustment with increased sensitivity.

Bare fibers are positioned using FP-1A or FP-2A . Models FPR-1A and FPR-2A add rotation about the fiber axis for aligning bare polarization-preserving fibers. Connectorized standard or polarization-preserving fibers are positioned with FPR1-C1A or FPR2-C1A . Fibers are aligned in three axes (XYZ) using FP-1A , FPR-1A , or FPR1-C1A , and in five axes (XYZθXθY) using FP-2A ,FPR-2A , or FPR2-C1A . Axial Z motion is accomplished without rotation of the fiber by a knurled knob with a precision 80 TPI thread.

Models FP-1A, FP-2A, FPR-1A, and FPR-2A include a position lock for the XY-axes. FPR1-C1A and FPR2-C1A incorporate our new zero-freeplay XY mechanism ensuring accurate positioning and enhanced long-term stability, reducing drift over both time and temperature. New independent locks for each axis of translation and rotation securely lock the mechanism, not just the actuator screws, maintaining stable alignment. Engaging or disengaging each lock on these models has negligible influence on the other axes.

Models FP-1A, FP-2A, FPR-1A, and FPR-2A are compatible with FPH-S , FPH-S-2.5 , FPH-J , orFPH-DJ chucks for bare fibers, which must be ordered separately (Fiber Chucks and Holders). ForFPR1-C1A and FPR2-C1A connectorized fiber positioners, FPH-CA Series Fiber Chucks must be ordered separately. Rotating chucks are graduated in 15° increments and may be rotated through a full 360°.

All FP Series Fiber Optic Positioners have threaded holes in their base for post mounting. FPR2-C1A is also provided with a slotted base plate for mounting directly to an optical table. The base plate can be mounted on either side of the positioner.
