These sub-assemblies are the “top halves” of Newport’s Single-Mode Fiber Couplers and are useful for multimode fiber coupling. Model F-915T is for use with bare fibers, Model F-916T adds a rotation chuck for orienting polarization preserving fibers, and Model F-91-C1-T accommodates connectorized fibers.
These sub-assemblies can be used for single-mode fiber coupling when mounted on the F-91TSTilt Stage, forming an assembly identical to our F-915 , F-916 and F-91-C1 Single-Mode Fiber Couplers. Since the tilt stage is common to all three couplers, it is easy to convert from one type of coupler to another by swapping the bracket/fiber positioner assembly. For example, if you own an F-915T Multimode Coupler, you can upgrade to the F-915 simply by purchasing theF-91TS assembly.
The preferred fiber chucks for use with the F-915 and F-915T are the FPH-J four-jaw fiber chuck with Teflon liner (Fiber Chucks and Holders) for fibers less than 250 microns in diameter, and the FPH-DJ Delrin-jawed chuck for fibers 250 microns to 1 mm diameter. The FPH-S and FPH-S-2.5 slotted fiber chucks for fibers of 100-200 micron diameter are most often used with the F-916 and F-916T because of their quick insertion and stress free holding capability. The FPH Series connectorized fiber chucks are designed for use with Models F-91-C1 and F-91-C1-T . Be certain to order the proper connectorized Fiber Chucks and Holders from the list.
