The OAP-ADAPT Parabolic Mirror Adapter is a mechanical adapter for coupling Newport’s 1.5 inch diameter off-axis parabolic (OAP) mirrors to any Oriel lamp housing or monochromator with a 1.5 inch flange. An off-axis parabolic mirror is different in optical design from an on-axis or ellipsoidal reflector in that the optical axis is displaced away from the mechanical axis. As a result, it becomes easier to place a detector in the light path and block stray light from paths outside the aperture from reaching the detector. OAP mirrors also offer high NA and unlike aspheric lenses, are virtually free from chromatic aberration over their broad wavelength transmission range. Thus, OAP mirrors are ideal for collecting and concentrating light onto a desired area, or collimating light output from broadband incoherent sources. The OAP-ADAPT features a 1.5 inch male and female flange for simple coupling to an existing Oriel light source or monochromator setup, and enables 360˚ freedom of rotation over the output beam orientation.
