The vacuum compatible AJS170-0.5H-NL-V6 low outgassing adjustment screws are designed for demanding 1x10-6 Torr vacuum environments. Several key steps are taken in the design, assembly and packaging of these parts. We incorporate metals into our designs that are known to be vacuum compatible and desired or approved for use in vacuum systems. In particular, bronze is used in place of brass to virtually eliminate the presence of zinc, which will actually sublimate in a vacuum environment. Following the machining of the screw and bushing, each component is chemically cleaned in an ultrasonic bath to remove contaminating substances. Assembly is done in a cleanroom environment where lubrications that have recorded vacuum compatibility test data are used. Finally the adjustment screws are packaged in specially-cleaned vacuum-sealed bags, ready for cleanroom and vacuum chamber applications. The AJS170-0.5H-NL-V6 has precision cut 170-TPI threads for exceptionally fine adjustment sensitivity. It offers 0.5 inch (12.7 mm) precision travel obtained with hex-head adjustment, ideal for use with Newport optical mounts, stages, and most micrometer-compatible components. The standard 0.375 in. (9.5 mm) diameter collet is threaded with a nut for mounting to optical mounts and stages.
