Thorlabs offers two different kinds of infinity-corrected microscope objectives, both with standard RMS threading: Visible Imaging Microscope Objectives and UV Focusing Microscope Objectives. The visible achromatic objectives have an ultra wide broadband AR coating, provide magnifications ranging from 4X - 40X, and are corrected for blue and red wavelengths. On the other hand, the UV focusing objectives, which are available with 3.7X or 10X magnification, are designed specifically for use at 193 nm.
The RMS series of microscope objectives should be used in applications like traditional microscopy, confocal imaging, and fiber coupling. Thorlabs also sells the LSM series of scan lenses may be a better choice for some imaging applications that require a telecentric lens that maintains a small focal spot and constant optical path length as a laser is scanned over the entrance aperture.
Our microscope objectives can be mounted directly to our fiber launch systems, or they can be mounted to any of our flexure or translation stages using a HCS013 RMS mount. Alternatively, these microscope objectives can be easily mounted to our cage systems (using an SM1A3 adapter) or to our lens tubes, thus facilitating the setup of optical systems.
When choosing an infinity-corrected microscope objective, it is important to keep in mind that objectives are often designed to integrate with a particular manufacturer's microscopes and are not necessarily interchangeable due to tube length differences and variations in thread pitch or diameter.
